Overwhelm to Resilience

Overview

Cost: Free

This event is part of Go Succeed, a support service from local councils in Northern Ireland that can help to start, grow or scale a business.

In today's fast-paced environment, feelings of overwhelm can impact confidence, decision-making, relationships, and performance. This interactive one-hour workshop explores practical strategies for recognising and managing overwhelm, while highlighting the importance of building strong personal and professional networks as a source of support, perspective, and growth.

Participants will also examine the Cycle of Interpretation, a powerful communication model that demonstrates how individuals often respond not to what has actually been said, but to the meaning they assign to it. By understanding how assumptions, beliefs, and past experiences shape interpretation, attendees will learn techniques to improve communication, reduce misunderstandings, and strengthen relationships.

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Recognise the signs and triggers of overwhelm and understand their impact on wellbeing and effectiveness.
  • Identify practical tools for managing pressure and maintaining perspective during challenging situations.
  • Understand the value of developing and nurturing supportive personal and professional networks.
  • Explore how relationships and networks contribute to resilience, confidence, and problem-solving.
  • Learn the principles of the Cycle of Interpretation and how assumptions can influence reactions and behaviours.
  • Develop strategies for checking understanding, improving communication, and reducing conflict or misunderstanding.
