Institute of Directors

The Institute of Directors is the leading organisation representing top-level business men and women. Our membership contains over 800 business leaders and we are the only major business organisation whose membership includes leaders from the private, public and third sectors. Our members represent the full range of industrial sectors and all sizes of organisations. The vast majority of members are Chief Executives, Chairmen or functional Directors and all members are decision makers in their organisations.

The main role of the Institute is to enable and encourage the professional development of business leaders so that they run their organisations in the most efficient and effective manner. 

Services provided to our members include training, information services, legal and tax helplines, business consultancy advice, lobbying, access to premises around the UK for working and entertaining, access to airport lounges in the UK, and a range of discounted benefits relevant to the needs of business men and women.

As a result of this activity, the Institute has achieved a high level of recognition amongst the business community and the media, as well as other sectors of the community. In particular, the organisation is regarded by the government and civil service as one which is totally independent and authoritative on the issues that directly affect our members.
